Small Office Connection for Voice and Data

Ideal for the Small Office, CyberGear GOLD allows standalone or networked PCs to take advantage of digital ISDN connections, which provide up to 128Kbps of data and/or voice traffic. All the benefits of ISDN; sub-second call set-up, noise-free transmissions, simultaneous multi-channel operation are combined in the CyberGear GOLD with an easy Windows Control Panel. Users will welcome the high speed downloading of files and interactive sessions, which have the added benefit of saving costs. CyberGear GOLD provides direct connectivity to a PC, Workstation, Server or hub for maximum 128Kbps available bandwidth. CyberGear GOLD includes both Stac* and MPPC* (Microsoft Point to Point Compression) standards, to provide increased throughput from 2:1 to 8:1 across these links; providing up to 1Mbps data throughput across ISDN.

Simultaneous connection of both ISDN channels allows ports for telephone, fax or modem connection and data transmission to be used as and when required for connections to the outside world.

Simple Installation and Control

The CyberGear GOLD is designed for users who require access to advanced communications facilities, without being networking experts. For Internet connectivity, the Alchemy Installation Wizard allows users to connect via ISDN to their chosen Internet Service Provider (ISP) within minutes of first opening the package. The CyberGear GOLD includes comprehensive Windows applications for setup, management, Phone Status and Call Status. These last two applications, allow users to monitor every aspect of calls coming in and being made; name and number of caller, call duration, call history, missed calls, etc..

Computer Telephony (CT) for all

The CyberGear GOLD brings the benefits of CT, until now only economic in large call-centres, within the reach of even the smallest office. Up to 6 standard telephones can be connected to CyberGear GOLD, and due to the tight integration between the extended telephony features and the high speed data connections, each telephone can be linked to a user's PC, utilising Microsoft’s Telephony API (TAPI), to provide a myriad of value added features. TAPI is an inherent feature of Windows NT and Windows 95. All incoming calls can be monitored and logged on a user’s PC. The Incoming Caller Number can be displayed on both standard Caller Display telephones and on the associated PC screen. The CyberGear GOLD supports Multiple Subscriber Numbering (MSN), Direct Dial In (DDI) and Sub-addressing to allow the easy routing of incoming calls. Furthermore, support for Enhanced Telephone Services/Star Services means users can take full advantage of value added public network facilities such as Call Holding where available.

The CyberGear GOLD defines a new level of Computer Telephony convergence, with unanswered calls being directed to a digital answering facility. The recorded message is then forwarded to Windows mail, providing a unified voice and E-mail messaging interface.

Windows 95 Compatibility

CyberGear GOLD is fully compatible with Windows 95 and takes advantage of many of it’s in-built Computer Telephony features and facilities.

CyberGear GOLD Router

The CyberGear GOLD provides many sophisticated features previously associated with more expensive devices but ideal for the demanding applications deployed in the Small Office. The integrated router enhances the functionality of the CyberGear GOLD and allows high-speed throughput via a 10Mbps Ethernet connection. Unlike an ISDN TA, CyberGear GOLD can be shared by more than one PC and so provide WAN access via ISDN, for a Small Office LAN installation. Specifically designed to meet the needs of the Small Office or remote site, it includes the intelligence needed to simplify network installation. The CyberGear GOLD will automatically assign IP addresses to the LAN attached PCs , using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) provided with Windows 95, and then automatically map these addresses to your Internet Service Providers IP address during Internet access. Internet security concerns are also addressed through the provision of an integrated firewall, negating the need for an expensive, standalone, software solution tying up a PC.

Standards Based Connectivity

The CyberGear GOLD provides connectivity to third party routers and remote access servers using standard PPP and Multi-link PPP protocols. Where rate adaptation is needed, from the incoming data port, V.120 is used to provide greater throughput and security, whilst V.110 support allows mobile communications via GSM mobile phones. For access security, both Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) and Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) are provided for use during connection negotiation. Support of these authentication protocols ensures that the CyberGear GOLD can securely connect to any standards based network, with optimum throughput.
